Feasting yet again!

Feasting yet again!

On Sept. 14th in 335, took place the dedication of Constantine's basilica which enclosed both Calvary and the Holy Sepulcher. "At this date," says Etheria, "the cross was discovered." And the anniversary is celebrated with as much solemnity as Easter or Ephiphany. "Such was the origin of the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross". On this feast we rejoice for its exaltation, and pray we may possess for all eternity the salvation and glory the Cross has won for us.

There is nothing more beautiful, and more inspiring than adoring the cross of Christ and realizing time and time again that our own crosses in life are nothing in comparison to the sacrifice made already for the remission of sins.

We adore Thee Christ Jesus,
and by thy Holy Cross thou hast redeemed the world.

Celebrating with an old favorite recipe;
this chocolate one is iced brown and kept plain.

An old favorite recipe, one that is especially great for lactose intolerance people. Everything is usually always handy in the pantry too, a big bonus.

Wacky Cake
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 4 tbsp. cocoa
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips (I rarely use these at all)

Mix dry ingredients together. Mix wet ingredients together. Blend wet into the dry ingredients, stir well. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Great as a cake or cupcakes (less time). Frost as desired. Great to bake, freeze and use later as a cut up cake base.

Why do we have to eat dinner first (chili topped baked potato and green salad). Can we have a backwards dinner, dessert first today?
