Happy Birthday Canada!
July 1, 2009We had big plans to celebrate Canada Day this year and get over to watch some fireworks late at night.
Great disappointment reigned high here when the rain continued to fall intermittently throughout the day. But thankfully it was still warm outdoors.
Eventually though we claimed defeat on extra activities to catch a patriotic glimpse of even more "red and white". Maybe next year....Flying our Canadian FlagThat said, we're still waving our Canadian flag, the one we finally unwrapped from our move here, and we're singing our National Anthem en force. Aside from all the other reasons why one should be singing this song, what in the world would an ice hockey game be without it anyway? :-)Don't know our National Anthem ? Check out this LINK HERE to check out the Canadian Heritage information pages. Read the history of the song, find the words there, hear it sung in either French, English or just listen to an instrumental version.
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command. With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free! From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
